Qlyte celebrated the official opening

Farmsum, June 10th, 2011. Friday, June 10th Qlyte, a spin-off company of the Dutch multinational DSM, celebrated the official opening of its plant in Delfzijl. The sustainable alternative fuel plant was opened in an 'energetic' way on bicycles by Mr. Gerbrandy, member of the European Parlement (D66) and Mrs. Mansveld, deputy of the Province of Groningen (PvdA).

The opening was a great success and the start of a sustainable processing of paper-plastic waste fractions in northern Netherlands. In the new Subcoal® facility 80,000 tons, unrecyclable paper- plastic waste fractions, can be upgraded to a high quality fuel.

Director Koekkoek mentioned in his opening speech the intention to grow in time to a capacity of 110,000 tonnes of waste. Furthermore there are plans for new facilities in England, France and Spain. Fellow director Nafid thanked in his speech DSM, Qlyte's financial investors as well as the new employees in Delfzijl.

After the speeches of both directors Mrs. Mansveld talked about the arrival of Qlyte in the region, and Mr. Gerbrandy talked about the importance of companies like Qlyte for a sustainable development of the economy. Mrs. Mansveld, with energy and economy in her portfolio, felt fully in her element given the area of renewable energy. She called Qlyte an asset to the Northern Province and an example of how residues can be successfully valorised in a high quality fuel. After her speech, Mr. Gerbrandy added that sustainable development is also economically becoming more attractive. Gerbrandy mentioned to be proud of a company like Qlyte, a pioneer in the Netherlands in unrecyclable waste: "Qlyte is an industrial jewel that we all should cherish. This young company has manifested itself strongly in difficult economic times. The production runs, and is getting more and more optimal, the customers are content, there is healthy growth, growth prospects and ongoing ambition. "
