History
The Subcoal® technology has been developed in the late nineties by DSM in a response to the increasing need for new environmental technologies to manage our waste streams in a sustainable way.
DSM has combined its process technology-, polymer/polymer processing- and sustainability competences to develop a state-of-the-art and comprehensive process and application technologies. These technologies, integrated in the Subcoal® technology, are able to deliver high-value alternative fuels with a superior cost-economic performance.
The process technology is proven on a large scale facility at SmurfitKappa paper mill in Roermond (the Netherlands) in which app. 30.000 tons paper rejects are converted into app. 16.000 tons high-quality fuel pellets (also known as Rofire® pellets).
